Old Inquizitive Newsletters
Inquizitive Newsletter – March 2011
Inquizitive has re-located into the city!!!!
As of the 5th of March Inquizitive has been up and running at our new location at 110 Charles Street, Launceston. We are right smack bang in-between Chickenfeed and Chemist Warehouse, opposite Harris Scarfe’s side entrance! While we will miss our old home we are really excited about our new one and its potential to be more easily accessed by a broader range of Launcestonians.
Thank you to everyone who supported us during our 4 years at Kings Meadows and we really look forward to seeing new and familiar faces at our new location at 110 Charles Street.
AGFEST
Inquizitive will be part of AGFEST this year, so if you are making the trip be sure to come and see us while you are there. We’ll be at site M80 on the main street. We’re also a part of the yellow brick road program so if you’re with a school group, you’ll need to answer a question about us. AGFEST is being held on the 5th, 6th and 7th of May at Quercus Park. We’ll be having a huge 10 meter by 10 meter marquee so it will be very exciting. We have also roped in a few of our suppliers to come along and help and they will be bringing loads of things for you to make and do and take home with you, so we hope to see you there!
We’re off to Toyfair this week!
Once again we are visiting the Toy Fair which is only open to retailers and held every year at the Exhibition Centre in Melbourne. It’s a great chance for retailers around the country to visit and see first hand what new exciting products that toy suppliers are releasing onto the market. Of course, there are also a lot of old favourites as well. That means all sorts of new games and puzzles will be coming through the door. Which means that we have a new store with new products, just for you to come in and check out!
Race Around The World has been nominated as 2011 Australian Puzzle of the Year
Every year the members of the Australian Games Association have the opportunity to nominate their favourite game and puzzle. They have a strict set of rules which have to be achieved in order for the game/puzzle to be nominated. The president of the Australian Games Association then announces the winners at the Toy fair. Inquizitive is very very excited to announce that Race Around the World has been nominated to be the 2011 Australian Puzzle of the Year! For those of you that have been hiding under a rock for the past 12 months, Race Around the World is a brain teaser that won the 2009 Exercise Your Mind Challenge Competition. The original concept was thought up by four girls from Riverside Primary School and the Dr Wood Challenge Centre took their idea, and turned it into one of Australia’s best puzzles. So, if you don’t have your own copy, why don’t you pop into our new store on Charles Street try it out and get your own copy!
2011 Exercise Your Mind Challenge Competition
Once again Inquizitive together with the Dr Wood Challenge Centre are running the 2011 Exercise Your Mind Challenge Competition.
Work by yourself or in groups of up to four to create a concept that can be transformed into a puzzle. There are great prizes to be won for the winners and their school. Also the prestige that comes with having your photo on the winning product is pretty awesome!

Inquizitive Newsletter – January 2011
Welcome to 2011
All the team at Inquizitive would like to wish everyone a happy and prosperous new year and hope you had a joyful and safe holiday season. Inquizitive has resumed normal trading hours (Mon – Sat 9am to 5pm and Sunday 11am to 4pm). Now is the perfect time to stock up that gift cupboard or to purchase a kite or foxtail sport to take to the beach with you.
Did you know that according to the Chinese Zodiac 2011 is the year of the rabbit?
People born in the Year of the Rabbit are articulate, talented, and ambitious. They are virtuous, reserved, and have excellent taste. Rabbit people are admired, trusted, and are often financially lucky. They are fond of gossip but are tactful and generally kind. Rabbit people seldom lose their temper. They are clever at business and being conscientious, never back out of a contract. They would make good gamblers for they have the uncanny gift of choosing the right thing. However, they seldom gamble, as they are conservative and wise.
If you were born in any of these years 1915, 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999 then you are also a Rabbit! Does any of this sound like you?

Have you got a copy of Race Around the World yet?
You should all know about Race Around the World, but have you got your own copy yet?
This is not only a fantastic game but it was the winning entry in Inquizitive’s 2009 Exercise Your Mind Challenge Competition and was designed by four girls from Riverside Primary School, so it is the ideal gift to send interstate or overseas or just to have at home for a bit of fun.
Inquizitive is currently fully stocked with Race Around the World but we assure you they won’t last long, so get yours soon! The game has a deceptively simple concept and set of rules but it is an incredibly fun, challenging game for all ages and skill levels. For more information or to purchase Race Around the World online, follow this link.
Don’t forget that the producers of Race Around the World, Dr Wood will shortly be releasing an add-on pack for the game. And we have inside information that there will be a special game just on Tasmania!

NEW PRODUCTS
Butterfly Kite – A Beautiful Flying Insect! So realistic, I’m sure this will fool many a bird! Despite it’s large sail, it needs a Medium Breeze to fly but is a high-aspect kite…..it will fly very high in the sky. Ages 5+
Rubberband Flying Machines – Build these cool flying machines and compare their different flight patterns as you launch them in the park, the school gymnasium or the neighbor’s backyard! The Rubber Band Powered Flying Kit comes with all the instructions and materials you need to build and fly the Firebird, Shooting Star and Lightning Looper. Develop your understanding and building technique and then watch them soar, circle and loop the skies; who knows? Your machines could break world records! Ages 8+
Sumoku is a unique crossword-style game with numbers. It can be played 5 different ways. In Sumoku, one player rolls a die, then all players take turns arranging numbered tiles, crossword-style, so each row or column adds up to a multiple of the number rolled. Scores are tallied based on the number combinations played on each person’s turn, with the game continuing until no tiles remain. We especially love how all 97 pieces stow away in the cone-shaped sack. Whether you are looking for fast action with friends, a challenging pastime, or an addictive game that brings family together, sumoku has it all! 1 to 8 players.
Brain Box – Australia – It is a compact ten minute memory game in a unique format for as many players as you want and is perfect for home, the classroom or to take on holidays. The trick with this game is that some of the questions relate specifically to interesting facts on the card such as “Does the State Badge (of SA) have a kangaroo on it?”, whereas others are a little more obscure, such as “What colour cap is Allan Border wearing?”
Little Mermaids – Sparkle and shimmer your way to the Mermaid party with this educational game. Start playing in just a few minutes as you collect different items to put in your shiny mirror. Helps to teach about observation, comparison, collecting, co-ordination and playing with others. This game is good fun even when it’s not your turn and only takes 10 minutes to play.

NEW PRODUCTS
Si
x – A fantastic game of pure strategy. Be the first to create one of three, six piece shapes to claim your title of winner. Sounds simple? Remember, your opponent is trying to do the same and blocking you at every available chance, a terrific game for 2 or 4 players. Minutes to learn… hours of fun!
Foxtail Sport – This is no ordinary ball. This completely safe rubber ball has a tail. Swing from the tail and let it fly. See how high or how far you can throw it. The tail allows for easier catching so it can be used as a way of developing coordination in young players, or as a fun alternative for more experienced ball players.
Sling Shute - Tuck a nylon parachute into two indestructible ball halves, close the ball up, give it a few hearty swings by the attached tail and loft it sky high. At the height of the toss (and, believe us, we’re talking pretty high), the ball opens up and out pops the parachute. The whole thing floats down to the ground just like.. well, a parachute. Sling chute is simple, exciting, colourful and it’ll have you running all over the lawn gazing up at the wild blue yonder. We love it. No batteries, no springs, no software upgrades necessary.
IQ Splash – Warning! This is a very addictive puzzle, but a great travel companion! Using the 12 colourful pieces and the puzzle book, follow the picture on the puzzle book, lay the puzzle pieces into the board and then with the remaining puzzle pieces, lay them into the remaining space to complete the puzzle. Sounds easy doesn’t it? Well, you have 111 challenges across 5 different levels to complete. Have fun!
Magic Shaker – This hourglass style toy for ages 6 months and older is a fantastic tool for the development of colour and shape recognition, hand eye coordination and gripping and release skills. Watch as the coloured beads magically change from yellow to green, then back again. Children will love the magic effect of the beads as well as the faint rattling sound. Parents will love the educational and developmental benefits of the toy.
Bilibo – Bilibo is a new kind of toy – the elementary shell leaves room for a child’s imagination. Instead of imposing a specific play pattern, Bilibo is open for a wide range of interpretations and encourages children to invent their own games, to play and have fun in an active and creative way. Bilibo has no lights, sounds or batteries – all you add is imagination.
